Bucket List Wedding Painting Locations
There's something undeniably magical about having a live painter at your wedding. While your photographer captures fleeting moments, a live wedding painter transforms your celebration into a timeless work of art—brushstroke by brushstroke, color by color. And when you pair this romantic tradition with Oregon's most stunning venues? Pure magic.
As a wedding painter who's had the honor of capturing love stories across the Pacific Northwest, I've compiled my ultimate bucket list of Oregon wedding venues that are absolutely begging for a live painter. These locations offer such breathtaking backdrops that your wedding painting will become an heirloom piece you'll treasure for generations. Some I have painted at, and most of them I haven’t yet.
1. Chateau de Michellia
Let me be real for a second…if you're getting married in a castle and not having a live painter, that's actually a crime.😂
I can see the finished painting already, hanging above your fireplace, the majestic castle backdrop framing you and your beloved gazing into each other's eyes. The turrets, the stonework, the pure fairy tale romance of it all captured in paint. If that's not a Bridgerton dream, I don't know what is.

2. The Griffin House
This is a beautiful venue that I've had the privilege of painting at, and let me tell you—it's a live painter's paradise. Perched right on the Columbia River Gorge, the sun sets directly on the ceremony location, creating some of the most stunning sunsets you'll ever witness. The golden hour light dancing across the water, the silhouettes of the gorge, your first kiss as a married couple—it all comes together in the most gorgeous composition.

3. Chateau de Lis
Their website literally says "where fairy tale weddings come to life," and they're not exaggerating. This French-inspired estate is the epitome of romance, with its elegant architecture and manicured grounds. A live wedding painting here would capture not just a moment, but an entire mood—sophisticated, timeless, and utterly romantic.

4. Smith Rock State Park
For the adventurous couples who want their wedding to be as bold as their love story, Smith Rock delivers drama in the best possible way. The towering rock formations, the high desert landscape, the way the light hits those ancient stones—it's a painter's dream canvas. I've painted here before, and trust me, the raw natural beauty translates beautifully into art.

5. Ranch at the Canyons
Another venue I've been fortunate enough to paint at, Ranch at the Canyons offers that quintessential Oregon landscape—rolling hills, open skies, and a sense of spaciousness that feels both intimate and grand. The rustic elegance here provides the perfect balance of refinement and natural beauty for a wedding painting.

6. The Ruins at the Astor
I’ve been obsessed with old buildings as long as I can remember. There's something about the history, the texture of weathered brick, the stories held within crumbling walls that absolutely captivates me. The Ruins at the Astor combines industrial chic with romantic decay in the most artistic way possible. A live painting here would capture all that moody, romantic atmosphere.

7. Gorge Crest
Okay, technically this one's in Washington, but it's so close to the border that I had to include it. With sweeping views of Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge, this venue is absolutely breathtaking. And if you're getting married during wildflower season? Bonus points all around. Imagine your wedding painting with those colorful blooms in the foreground and the majestic mountain in the distance.

8. Juniper Preserve
For couples drawn to Central Oregon's high desert beauty, Juniper Preserve offers wide-open spaces, dramatic landscapes, and that signature Oregon juniper tree aesthetic. The light here is incredible—clear, bright, and perfect for capturing those warm, golden tones in a wedding painting.
